In July 2007, the Village adopted a Historic District Master Plan that outlines strategies to attract the best possible retail businesses and make development choices that fit modern retail site development principles.

The downtown district continues to experience growth. The future promises even more growth as Chicago's suburban edge engulfs Frankfort. The Village strives to preserve the character of Downtown Frankfort as the area continues to grow.
